This layer is suitable for square worm farms and is used as the bottom layer which is the liquid collection point. It comes with a tap to enable easy pouring of valuable "worm tea" into a bucket or jug. It also includes a worm ladder which enables the worms to climb out of the liquid if they fall through from above layers.
Due to the weight and height, the highest a worm farm should be stacked for access by an adult is 1 x liquid collection (black) and 4 x food waste (green). Worm farms being accessed by children should be sized according to their height so as not to create back strains from lifting the top layer.
The layer is 42.5cm x 45cm x 20 cm deep.
